This is a fine and rare Hispano-Moresque tile, made in Toledo, Spain, during the mid-16th century (circa 1550–1575). Crafted using the arista technique, the design was created with a mold that produces raised lines, allowing the glazes to remain within their defined areas. The glaze colors are characteristic of the Toledo region. The upper section of the tile features a candlestick-like motif with leaf-shaped extensions. On the left and right edges, half a candlestick is depicted—when multiple tiles are placed side by side, they form a complete design. The lower portion displays a flowing, continuous leaf motif. Its condition is very good considering its age of over 450 years. Minor glaze losses are visible, as shown in the photos. The edges on the reverse side have been trimmed, a common practice in historic Spanish and Portuguese tiles to improve adhesion during installation.
