SP2297 Early tile from Seville € 450.00

Spanish tile made in Seville. The tile is made in a mixed technique of both cuerda seca and Arista. You can see the painted lines of the cuerda seca technique in black on a drawing that was previously made in relief. A. Ray dates this type to about 1520-1530. A similar tile with this decor in a different colour is dated at the end of the 15th century in the publication Ceramicas de Triana, Coleccion Carranza. Good condition tile, with some chips to sides and glaze. Size of the tile is approximately 14.0 x 14.0 cm I did not take the tile out of the frame.
