Spanish arista tile with eightpointed star
A moulded square ariste tile made of a hard yellow clay showing a geometrical polychrome decoration. The central motif of the tile is a green eight-pointed star surrounded by geometric squares with a central star. The star is one of the most common Islamic geometric decorative patterns in Mudéjar art. There is a similar tile in the collection of Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm, Sweden, they purchade the tile from The Forrer collection in 1922. Tile is in excellent condition.
