Lion head in arista technique
Square earthenware tile depicting a stylised lion's head in indigo blue with a brown ring in its mouth. The circular frame creates a link to other tiles with floral subject. Made in Toledo at the second half of the XVI century. Tiles of this type occur in the choir of Santa Domingo el Real. A similar tile is in the collection of the V&A London. Tile is heavily used and has much wear to glaze and corners.
