Spanish (Catalan) polychrome tile decorated with an architectural ruin. Only a small percentage of this type of tile was made in this large size, more on this tile in: Les Rajoles Catalanes D'Arts I Oficis, page 394 and 395. Provenance: Bonham's, The anderson Gallery New york 1927, From the collection of Francis Wilson Mark, Esq., British consul at Palma, Island of majorca, Spain, 1884-1894. Mr Marks gave some similar tiles to the Victoria and Albert museum in London in 1920. Condition is good, nice glaze all over. bottom side slightly cut, chips to bottom right corner and top side.
