Delft, Porceleyne Fles Plaque after a Painting by E Verveer Made in 1914

A Porceleyne Fles Delft hand-painted plaque (Large tile) after a painting by E. Verveer. The plaque is executed in Delft blue color. The plaque is painted by H.C. Bottelier who worked for the Porceleyne fles factory from 1880 to 1924. The year letters A.J. written on the back stand for 1914 as the year of production. Established in 1653, De Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles is the only remaining Delft blue pottery factory from the 17th century. This atmospheric plaque is painted after a 19th-century painting “Expected westerly wind” of Elchanon Verveer (1836 - 1900). He was a Dutch painter of the Romantic school. He often used the Dutch fishing life, usually in Scheveningen, the sea and the beach as subject for his paintings. Overall size including frame: 33 x 28 cm (13” x 11”). Tile is: 25.5 x 20.5 cm (10" x 8.1") The tile and frame are in excellent condition.
