Panel of 16 Portuguese tiles

Set of 16 Portuguese tiles. The set is composed of four times 2 x 2 tile. According to S. Simoes, Azulejaria em Portugal no sec XVII, this type can be found in Convento dos Servas, Borba, Portugal. This church was built in the first half of the 17th century and the tiles probably date from around 1670. This type of tile was used to cover the interior of large buildings and churches in the 17th century. Tiles have some glaze chips to the sides and the backs of the tiles is cut on all 4 sides; this is usually the case with Portuguese tiles from the 17th century. I have four sets of 16 tiles available if you want a huge panel!
