Convent "Des Jacobines" Troyes

Four medieval floor tiles mounted on wooden frame. Each tile 9.6 x 9.6 cm and 2.2 cm thick. Similar tiles in the large (1300+) medieval floor tiles collection of the Saint-Loup museum in Troyes. These floor tiles came from the convent of "Des Jacobins" Troyes that dates from the 13th Century. Provenance: The Achterbergh collection, a collection of tiles collected at the end of the 19th and early 20th Century in The Netherlands. Good condition considering age, most glaze gone, some wear to slib decoration, none of the tiles broken or restored. A very rare piece!
