Portuguese tile panel
This 16 tile panel uses only two different tiles to create a beautiful and ingenious design with leaves, flowers and ribbons. A masterpiece by an unknown designer. This type of tile was used to cover the interior of large buildings and churches in the 17th century. The panel has beautiful glaze, clear and shiny. Some glaze chips on the sides of tiles, see photos. Portuguese antique tiles in general are made primitive and therefore size, shape, color and thickness can vary, in general some tiles are about 14 x 14 cm. The back of the tiles is cut on all 4 sides; this is usually the case with Portuguese tiles from the 17th century.
