Large hexagonal French terracotta fireplace tile. This tile is decorated with the face of a medieval warrior. This is the nineteenth century interpretation of a warrior, tile is most likely made in the nineteenth century during neo-renaissance. It probably has been part back wall of a fireplace. Good condition, with some chips to sides, larger chip to bottom side. Surface black, probably soot from fireplace. Provenance: Benoit Fay collection, France.
