Four late medieval tiles decorated with a geometrical design forming a wheel, the outer circle has teeth. Typical decoration of the department of Aisne in the north of france. This area has lots of good yellow and red clay to make tiles. This type of tiles was used a lot by the order of St. Augustine in amongst other places, Laon, Premontre and Etampes. Provenance of these tiles is a French private collection. All tiles have been thoroughly cleaned by the previous owner and have the same signs to the back which I cannot identify. three of these four tiles are in excellent condition, one glued tile. Most of the surface covered by origional glaze, surface is a bit uneven and the tiles have some small chips to sides. One corner with larger glaze chips.
