This is an original antique Art Nouveau tile made by: Villeroy & Boch, at the factory in Mettlach, Germany. The tile was made around the year 1900. The geometric decor is embossed using the Dust-pressed technique, in which clay powder is compressed under high pressure in a mold. This design is by Henry van de Velde (1863-1957) a Belgian artist, designer and architect. The tile is in fair condition with clear glaze. There are signs of use such as glaze damage to the edges. On the back is the name of the factory.
