Original antique Art Nouveau tile made by Villeroy & Boch, Mettlach, Germany. Produced around 1900, it features a red geometric relief design. The tile was designed by Peter Behrens (14 April 1868 – 27 February 1940), the renowned German architect and designer. The decoration was executed in relief using the dust-press technique, where clay powder is compressed under high pressure in a mold. The tile is in very good condition, with a restoration to the bottom left corner (see detail picture).
