This is a beautiful example of an antique Art Nouveau wall tile, a piece of German Jugendstil craftsmanship. It was produced by Tonwerk Offstein (Tonindustrie Albertwerke GmbH) in Offstein, Germany, around the year 1900. It is in excellent condition. The tile's striking design is set against a vibrant, deep cobalt blue border. The central image features a highly stylized and symmetrical floral motif, contained within a pale light blue, shield-like cartouche. The primary elements are two large, blossoming trumpet-shaped flowers, perhaps resembling morning glories, rendered in a rich, deep red or burgundy. These are flanked by smaller buds and sinuous stems in mustard yellow, all emanating from a central, vertical stalk. The intricate contours of the design are highlighted by fine white lines, a characteristic technique that emphasizes the organic curves and flattened, decorative nature of the Art Nouveau style.
