AN4501 Peacock design tile RESERVED S.

Ernst Teichert GmbH (later S.O.F.) in Meissen tile. White glazed earthenware base upon which the design is applied using the stenciling method. The central motif is a highly stylized depiction of a peacock, a popular and symbolic subject in Art Nouveau due to its flowing lines and opulent feather display. The peacock is rendered in a dynamic, sweeping posture across the lower half of the tile, as if in flight. The colors used are bold and flat, typical of stenciled designs: the bird's body and the main, voluminous tail feathers are painted in a vibrant royal or cobalt blue. A secondary part of its wing and a large, flowing tail element are colored in a muted, delicate rose-pink or mauve. Vraag beantwoord De beschrijving van de tegel in vloeiende Engelse tekst: This tile is a captivating example of German Art Nouveau (Jugendstil), attributed to Ernst Teichert GmbH (later S.O.F.) in Meissen, and stands out for its decorative technique and stylized subject matter. Unlike the previous relief tiles, this piece uses a smooth, white glazed earthenware base upon which the design is applied using the stenciling (pochoir) method. Dominating the upper section is a large, spiraling whirl or swirl, executed in a deep forest green. Tile is in very good condition.
