This is an antique Art Nouveau tile. The tile was manufactured in Germany by the Osterather Mosaik- und Wanddplattenfabrik GmbH, based in Osterath. The pattern is embossed using the dust-press technique, where clay powder is compressed under high pressure in a mold before firing. This gives the tile a tactile, three-dimensional quality. Good condition tile but with several small glaze damages to surface and sides.
