This charming landscape tile was produced in Meissen (likely Somag), Germany, around 1910. The impressed factory mark on the reverse, together with the characteristic body and construction, is consistent with Meissen's architectural art tiles of the early twentieth century. The design depicts a tranquil rural farmhouse with a warm ochre thatched roof set among trees, viewed from a winding country path. Executed in the soft, atmospheric palette typical of the period. The tile is in very good antique condition. The glaze remains bright with only light age-related crazing and minor edge wear consistent with over a century of age. The reverse shows remnants of original mortar from installation, as expected for an architectural tile.
