Original antique Art Nouveau tile produced by S.O.F. (Sächsische Ofen- und Schamottewarenfabrik), formerly Ernst Teichert, Meissen, Germany, dating to around 1905. The design shows a striking stylised oak leaf and acorn motif on dark red ground. It was made using the tubeline technique, where raised clay outlines separate the colours and create a beautifully defined, slightly sculptural surface. The tile is in very good condition, with a fresh glossy glaze and only a few tiny glaze chips to edges. The manufacturer’s mark is present and clearly visible on the reverse.
