Pair Antique Grohner Wandplattenfabrik Art Nouveau Tiles 1906–1920 – German Jugendstil Floral Tiles Both tiles feature the same elegant stylised floral design but in two contrasting colourways. One has soft violet-grey flowers with golden-yellow centres and green stems against a delicate pale grey ground. The other combines similar violet-grey and yellow flowers with striking pale green stems against a rich dark olive-green background. The tall symmetrical flowers, elongated stems and beautifully curled leaves are typical of the Jugendstil period. Made using the dust-pressed technique, the tiles have crisp relief decoration enhanced by richly applied period glazes. Both tiles are in attractive antique condition with light traces of age and use. There is minor surface and edge wear consistent with their age, including a small glaze chip to the upper corner of the darker tile.
