AN4682 Gilliot fish tile € 179.00 each

A rare and highly decorative Art Nouveau tile by Gilliot, dating from around 1900. The design features elegantly stylised fish arranged in a dynamic, circular composition, symbolising movement and harmony. The decoration is executed in the traditional cuerda seca technique, characterised by fine dark outlines that separate the coloured glazes and give the design its distinctive graphic clarity. The colour palette consists of soft greens, warm ochres and terracotta tones, set against a pale ground and framed by green borders. The fluid lines and natural motifs are typical of Art Nouveau design and reflect the period’s fascination with nature and organic forms. Condition: Very good condition overall. There are a few small glaze chips along the edges, consistent with age and original use, but no major damage. The decoration remains crisp and vibrant.
