A beautiful and highly decorative Art Nouveau tile panel by Boizenburger Wandplattenfabrik, Boizenburg an der Elbe, dating from circa 1900. The composition consists of two tiles forming an elegant water-lily scene, with large white flowers and green leaves set against a deep cobalt-blue water background. The upper section is finished in a delicate turquoise glaze with a subtle decorative cloud pattern. The flowers and foliage are executed in high relief, giving the panel a wonderful three-dimensional quality. A fine original architectural ceramic from the Art Nouveau period, with light traces of use consistent with its age. These minor signs of wear add to the authentic character of this antique piece.
