A particularly attractive original German Jugendstil / Art Nouveau tile by Boizenburger Wandplattenfabrik, Hans Duensing, Boizenburg an der Elbe, dating to approximately c.1907–1910. This tall rectangular tile features a wonderfully graphic stylised sunflower. The decoration is executed in tubelining, with raised dark slip lines separating the individual areas of coloured glaze. The numerous small compartments forming the centre of the sunflower are especially effective and give the design considerable texture and depth. Condition: Good antique condition with expected signs of age and use. There is fine glaze crazing throughout, especially visible in the cream ground and yellow petals. Minor surface marks and light edge wear.
