A striking original Jugendstil / Art Nouveau tile by Boizenburger Wandplattenfabrik, Boizenburg an der Elbe, Germany, dating to the early 20th century, approximately c.1907–1910. This example has a particularly strong geometric Secessionist design, combining sweeping curves with sharply squared corner elements. A stylised central form resembling a flower, fountain or abstract plant rises through the composition, framed by symmetrical dark cobalt-blue curves. The restrained palette is especially attractive: turquoise / aqua blue, deep cobalt blue and creamy white, with subtle glaze pooling that emphasizes the moulded contours. Unlike the tubelined Boizenburg example above, this tile is dust-pressed and relief moulded. The entire design was formed under pressure in the tile body, creating raised and recessed areas that were subsequently filled with contrasting coloured glazes. This produces very crisp outlines while remaining fundamentally different from applied tubelining. Condition: Good antique condition with expected signs of age and architectural use. There is extensive fine glaze crazing throughout, particularly visible across the turquoise field and pale relief. A few small surface marks, scratches and tiny glaze imperfections are present, together with minor edge and corner wear.
